Exile has now been out for over a week and I’ve been having fun watching which books it’s had time next to in the Amazon charts.
I even woke up last Sunday to find it next to Stephen King, which was a nice surprise:
It’s prompted me to come up with a list of post-apocalyptic books that I think you might enjoy as companions to Exile. Some of them have similar themes while others are quite different.
So here are some recommendations for you:
The Wolf Road by Beth Lewis
Since the Damn Stupid turned the clock back on civilization by centuries, the world has been a harsher place. But Elka has learned everything she needs to survive from the man she calls Trapper, the solitary hunter who took her in when she was just seven years old.
So when Elka sees the Wanted poster in town, her simple existence is shattered. Her Trapper – Kreagar Hallet – is wanted for murder. Even worse, Magistrate Lyon is hot on his trail, and she wants to talk to Elka.
Final Winter by Iain Rob Wright
Hurst by Robin Crumby
At the end of the world, surrounded by the tidal waters of the Solent, the survivors of a pandemic flu virus hide behind the high walls of a Tudor fortress. Scraping a living far away from the smoking ruins of the cities, they wait in hope.
When the arrival of outsiders threatens to tip the balance of power, the people of Hurst are faced with a desperate choice: set aside their differences and join an alliance that promises new hope or unite against the newcomers and their plans for reconstruction. Who can be trusted? Only time will tell.
Exile by Rachel McCollin
Catastrophic floods have devastated England and left half of London homeless. Six years on, the Dyer family think they have found safety on the North Yorkshire coast.
But the family is haunted by memories of the journey north and the loss of their mother Sonia. And a bitter power struggle threatens to tear siblings Jess and Ben apart.
When Jess responds to a distress call at sea, she brings the family’s worst nightmare to their door. Robert Cope, a figure from Ben’s past, is intent on revenge – at any price.
I hope there are some books in there you enjoy – happy reading!
